Well I have done it again. Tried to do a weave on my frame loom that is suited better to a different loom, the Rigid Heddle.
I saw a post on Weavolution that was for 24 e.p.i. bookmarks done in a pinwheel weave on a Rigid Heddle Loom. I do indeed have a Rigid Heddle, as a matter of fact I believe it is the largest one out there at 32 inches wide. I have an extra heddle, a stand, the whole works. It is best suited for drapeable fabric, my loom is best suited for tapestry...a 'boardy' fabric. The RH is also wayyyyy to large to bring into my room in my current living conditions. I just keep thinking, who knows why, that I should be able to weave anything I want to on my loom, there just must be a way. WRONG AGAIN.
I tried warping on a warp board-my first attempt-DISMAL FAILURE. Then I tried direct warping, which is what I usually do. This warp called for 2 colors...somehow I did manage to get every other warp in the different color. I first warped every other dent in the spring with purple. Then I went back in and put a yellow warp in the every other dent. Walah! Success. I forgot about the 24 epi part. That I simply cannot achieve...yet.
I got the warp spaced where I could start the horizontal stripe pattern....somehow it just wasn't working. So I rolled the warp around and started again...this time I got a warpface horizontal stripe! Lavern Wadding would be proud, this means I could do warp floats in warp face ...thought for another future experiment. The thing is the hard beating for the warpface kills my hands and back. Failure again.
So I will be cutting this warp off and once again return to my comfort zone. But I can assure you I will not give up. It will be in the back of my mind floating around until I get my mind (hopefully) wrapped around the idea and try again.
