My basket work in Vermont!

I received this picture in an e mail today.  

I met a lady at the farmers market this Saturday, she was with the customer (another lady) that purchased this basket and sent it to her in Vermont as a gift.  Christmas I think.  Both are lovely ladies.

I can't tell you how pleased I am that she took the time to send me a photo of how she is using this basket.  How special that she has so artfully displayed even more of mother's natures gifts to compliment my work.

Thank You ladies, this made my day.

Purple, purple and more purple.

Two requests for more purple.  So, this wood has purple tones, a purple thread that is more on the blue end, and another purple thread moreon the red end.  

I already love it.

After this one is finished I will do the other half of the coconut shell with the same thread colors.

All done!

I think I creative side is a little stalled, lol.

I have been experiencing a motivational issue with my art.  But of course I keep at it.

I still have another 1/2 coconut shell, ( for a basket bottom) but went with a teal color thread and a Live Oak slice for the center this time.  

Seems bland to my eyes, even though I love the wood.  Sometimes if I persevere I surprise myself and create a pretty piece.  Let's hope that's what happens this time.

So now here goes, time to get busy.

New basket bottoms!

Can you guess what this one is made of?

I also have some Oak slices, a BUNCH OF THEM.

I was amazed this first time I saw Live Oak.  If you notice there are lines that go straight out from the center, to the outter bark, as well as the usual circles. 

But the gentleman that slices the wood for me (I have a serious respect of saws, read FEAR), says this is normal in the Oak named "Live Oak".  I like that it is an unusual, common, hard wood, with varying tones from blond to red.

I am liking some new looks.  Did you guess what the first one is?

It is a coconut shell that my friend @kraftymax gave me.  Can't wait to get started.  Being outside in the mid 70's sanding wood was a nice break from the cold and rain we have been doing.  But now Wiggles and i are ready to get out the Pine needles.

I finished number 4 for this week!

Woooohooooo!  I broke my own record, I have never made more than 3 in one week before!

Cedar center, nylon threads in Espresso and Silver, various grasses, palm frond and Pine needles.  Little wood beads for accent.

I really like the way this wood and the beads with the little touch of blue dressed this one up.

And this is what we have so far.  Love, love, love this wood. I think it is Oak.

My handbag/box is coming along nicely.

And it decided that it wanted a white palm frond (palm frond is white before the frond open and as a fan/frond it turns green) rim with brown wood beads.

Lots of news...

I have decided that with the beginning of the new year I would do some house cleaning with regards to my basket business.

To start with I made a new e mail, however, the old one will still reach me.  The new one is EarthBaskets@gmail.com.  It is all set up and running as we speak.

Then I discovered that I cannot simply change the name on a Facebook fan page.  So I created another one...Earth Baskets of course, I have already been posting on it also.

Then I even started a new blog, all of which is terribly time consuming.  You not only have to build these sites, you also have to promote an online presence, even more time consuming.  On top of that I never have had much on-line luck, even when I had an Etsy and an Artfire and worked them every day for 2 years (as far as sales).  I have come to the conclusion that my baskets started to sell once folks could pick them up, smell and feel them.  So why am I putting myself through this??? 

I don't want to spend so much time on line that I have to fight for time to MAKE the art.  So I will keep the new email, the new Facebook and I am going to change the name of this blog to Earth Baskrts also.  Nice and uniform, easy peasy.  I just have to get them all connected and then it will only be a few minutes a day for maintenance.

Pandula Arts Creations served its purpose and all of the time and effort antics successes and failures are still readily available.  But now I want things to run in a more streamline fashion.  I hope it makes things easier for you also. 

So keep watching, and I will try to make these changes as easy as possible.
