I found waxed linen in this beautiful Garnet/burgundy color.

It is absolutely beautiful with this wood on this basket.

I was actually going for Garnet and Gold because of the Florida Seminoles team out of Tallahassee Florida. But I don't think it screams football I think it is just plain elegant.

Let me know how you feel about it.

Then I warped up my tapestry loom. I have to tell you that it is absolutely wonderful that all I need to do every time I want to change the length of my project/warp is adjust the different components to the loom.

I decided I did not want to take my antique stool to the market anymore and the only other stool I had was much shorter to the ground. So I rearranged my boards and my threaded rod and now it's perfect for sitting at the market!!!  I don't have to worry about the weather ruining anything and it's very sturdy and very very infinitely adjustable this is so awesome if I do say so myself!

I finally figured out how to translate my favorite backstrap/warp face weaving onto a frame loom. It's just so much easier for me I love it!  Even more proud that I did it myself.  It is just the coolest feeling to say I wove it and I even wov it on a loom I built myself!

And can you believe it I went with yarn Artie had I didn't want to go to the store and I guess the purple just one out. It is pretty though.

It reminds me of Mardi Gras.

And already started a new basket today for a friend of mine is having a baby it's going to be pink and brown it's got beautiful work to check it out...

I'm never done a pink basket before, so I'm looking forward to it, it should be cute.

Trying a technique that I have only done once before.

It is called 2 heddle intermesh and i got my info from laverne waddington's 2 nd book!  Find her here http://backstrapweaving.wordpress.com.

This technique allows me to put a motif on a weaving with a solid background no stripes, or dots in the background.

Started off kind of wonky, but by the time I got to the second motif I was on a roll!!!

And it is somewhat reversible also.  It just depends on the design/motif.

August 1, 2014

I've been doing a little weaving. I even built myself a new loom. I'm doing warp face weaving in the traditional backstrap fashion, except for the fact that I have lashed it to a frame that I built myself.  It helps me with my tension and keeps me from having a backache.

As it turns out I don't like being physically strapped into the loom. I guess I have to get up and down too often.

Here are some photos for you to check out…

Most of my yarns are in a truck packed away in a storage unit,  I didn't really have room for them in the RV if I wasn't using them.

So this happens to be the yard that I just happen to have on hand. I also wanted to give a try at some weaving that wasn't as bright and colorful as some of the traditional backstrap weavings. I wanted to do almost like a brocade where it's just like green on green or silver on silver the way this piece is, I kind a like the effect and I'm going to do more of this.

Hear you say that I have folded it into one of the little pouches I like to make.

And in this one I thought you might just want to get a better look…

And then I switched over to bright bright bright colors.

The color is called fiesta it's a very very orangey red. It really pops against the white I have plenty of it to I intend to do something else with it later.

I won't be at the farmers market tomorrow,I'm babysitting for a friend of mine in Jacksonville. But you keep your eyes peeled I fully intend to continue trying to figure out things to add to my stall aside from just the Pineneedle baskets. Wish me luck and keep your eyes peeled I'll be back...
