And when they grow up they became little bags/couches!

Here we see the before...

And now, all grown up!

Don't forget girls and boys every other Saturday, and tomorrow is one of them, I will be at the St. Augustine amphitheater farmers market from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30.

All the items that you see listed on this blog are indeed for sale. And please don't forget I do ship.

Contact me anytime if you see something you like but would like in another color. I don't mind customizing and I do not charge extra for it.

See you there!

July 1, 2014

Making a little bit of progress on this large basket I'm working on.  (10 in long)

I have only been working on it when I go to the market , that way I have a large piece to work on while demonstrating.

I have returned to my original farmers market, the a Old City market. It is located in the amphitheater in St. Augustine, Florida every Saturday morning from 8:30to 12:30.

Here's a little Peek ...

As much as I love this piece of wood I wish I had chosen colors other than purple and teal.  Usually when I do a large piece I do them in earthtones so that they match pretty much anybody's decor. By making it in louder colors I think it makes it harder to sell. Just my thoughts of course.  And we all know I'm not a marketing guru.

I have also done a little bit of work on my Fleur-de-lis on wood. I'm liking it so far, but not as much as I liked the piece ithat looked like ribbons. I really hate that I messed that one up.

I'm being very stingy with the fixative this time till I don't want a repeat of what happened with the ribbon piece.

This is done in carbon and graphite pencil. The fleur-de-lis is drawn freehand by me.

I think I will indeed redo my ribbon piece on another piece of wood so keep your eyes peeled. I'm also going to experiment on the wood with some pastels, and some more charcoal, and maybe even some color pencil.

I'm going down into the heart of San Augustine city proper, the historic district, today with a friend of mine to set up a booth in a consignment art store. The store is called the starving artist and she has offered to let me put some of my work and her booth also. I'm thinking maybe the large pieces that I have trouble selling at the market. And then just sell the medium to smaller ones at the farmers market.

She does acrylic painting on usable objects. Here's a sample of one of the clay pots that she's done. I wish I had just a fraction of the talent with acrylic paint that she has.

Believe it or not she does all four sides of the pot. And each side is different. Check this bad boy out.

There's even little rhinestones on them just beautiful.

Such bold, bright colors. I just love them and I wish I could paint like that.

I'll take pictures of the booth and keep you updated on the name of the shop and what she calls her business and so on and so forth in case any of you would like to find her or even my own work.

Thank you talk to you later.

St. Aug., FL Wed. Farmers market.

04/16/14

I had such a good time in my first 'lil booth!

I didn't get rich, but I did sell 2 tiny pieces.

The market wasn't very busy, we had bad weather.  Winds up to 30 mph and temps in 50's.  So cold biting weather.

But I will keep at it!!!  I will also be solo at the Sat. market starting in June.  By then I should pretty settled into it.

Now I would like to Thank all of my lovely friends who took the time to encourage me  this small but important adventure.  Even when only verbal, it has meant so much to me that you (and you know who you are) are there rooting me on.

Now I am off to make the baskets...or maybe a bracelet...

Today is the day!

04/16/14 4:18 a.m.

Up bright and early for my first solo booth at any venue (in this case a farmers market)!!!  EVER!!!

A little windy and cool this morning, lots better than rainy or extremely hot.

A little nervous too.  Wish me luck.  I'll let you know how it goes.

I got accepted!

03/12/14

I have been accepted to open my own booth at the Wednesday farmers market.  Me...all by myself, to sell my Pine needle baskets.

I am soooooo excited.  I have had more success at the farmers market selling my baskets (working in my sisters booth for her restaurant) than at any other venue.

Given the choice I would have liked staying at the Sat. Morning markets, but I am not ready financially to leave my sister's employ just yet.

 But I digress...

So I have been slowly making progress towards independence.  Smart phone for debit transactions, new facebook fan page, new cards, a table, a chair, licenses, etc...

I will be wood burning my own sign. First ever so wish me luck.

Ii think I am ready.  We will know on Wednesday.

So in the meantime I did finish a couple more baskets.

These pictures don't do this one justice.  The beads simply glow.  It has the diamond stitch also.  Simple but pretty!

Then a tiny one.

Straight stitch on this one, with tiny 'lil purple beads almost the same tones as the Cedar wood.

Then I discovered a box of wood slices had molded, 1st time ever.

So I put them out side on my old glass door screen to wash them and then sprayed them with a bleach solution.  Hope they turn out well.

Also drying some grass.  I am so glad for the sawhorses and screen, both were scavenged finds.  Love that too.

I am very pleased with my progress!

For now I have to go get dressed for Sat. Market.  Talk to tou soon.
